NEW ZEALAND DEFENCE FORCE
FITNESS TEST REQUIREMENTS

To be successful in the first stage of starting or changing your career within New Zealand Defence Force you are required to pass an Assessment Day fitness test followed by an Induction Day fitness test.

ASSESSMENT AND INDUCTION DAYS

BEEP TEST
MALE: Minimum level 7.1
FEMALE: Minimum level 5.9

PUSH UPS
MALE: Minimum 5
FEMALE: Minimum 1

CURL UPS
MALE: Minimum 35
FEMALE: Minimum 25

Once you’ve joined the Air Force you will first need to pass an Operational Fitness Test which includes a 5km Weighted March (20kg) and Press Ups.

MALE: Minimum level 9.2
FEMALE: Minimum level 7.3

PUSH UPS
MALE: Minimum 10
FEMALE: Minimum 3

CURL UPS
MALE: Minimum 35
FEMALE: Minimum 25


INDUCTION DAY

2.4KM RUN
MALE: 12 minutes
FEMALE: 14 minutes

PUSH UPS
MALE: Minimum 15
FEMALE: Minimum 8

CURL UPS
MALE: Minimum 45
FEMALE: Minimum 35

Induction Day also requires an Entry Swim Test (more information on this will be given to you after the Interview stage).


DIVER

If you are aiming to be a Diver with the Navy you are also required to pass a further fitness test.
