Power is the result when strength meets speed.

Power is vital for athletes and sports people of all types. It is the strength and speed that will help to determine several things from how hard a boxer hits, to how high or far an athlete can jump.

Specific training such as plyometrics (also known as “jump training” or “plyos”) are focused on the ability to develop balance, speed and agility, enabling you to move more explosively and accurately at speed.

This training focuses on learning to move from a muscle extension to a contraction in a rapid or “explosive” manner.

Power training for different sports has very different area’s to work on and if you begin to get serious with a specific sport it is best to focus on the main area involved but this does not mean ignore the rest – for example if you focus is with golf then ensure you also focus on swinging from both sides of the body otherwise one side of the body’s muscles with get stronger than the other which could then get you body (spine, shoulder etc) out of line.

Boxing sessions are found to be one of the most popular training sessions we provide, it’s one thing you cannot really do by yourself without just hitting a punch bag.

You will be hitting the pads so concentration is required (to hit the pads & not us!!), enjoyment, motivation and adapted training comes from this.

Power, core training and endurance are all part of the 30 minute boxing sessions.

Note: You must ensure you are warmed up before starting any power training otherwise injuries are more likely to occur.
