TRX – What is it?
This piece of equipment is excellent for a 30min core-focused workout but it’s not the only set of muscles to be considered in your TRX training.
The TRX is simply a piece of equipment that has two adjustable handles and can be used almost anywhere, any time – no weights are required. It is attached at a specific height and can be used in a variety of ways to exercise the whole body.
This is beneficial for everyone from beginners to athletes.
For safety, make sure the TRX is set to a height to ensure that if you can no longer hold your weight, you are a safe distance from the floor.
Basic TRX exercises to try
Plank & Press
Set the TRX up to be about 30cm off the floor and lay face down with your feet under the TRX. Now put your feet into to base of the TRX and push up to be in a plank position. Hold this position for about 5 seconds then do a press up. Do this for 2 sets of 10 reps. See Video: TRX Plank & Press
Twisted Knee Tuck
Set the TRX to be about 60 cm off the floor (so your knees do not hit the floor when performing a tuck). Now put your feet into to base of the TRX and push up to be in a plank position. Ensuring your core is tensed twist your body to the left and at the same time pulling your knees up to your hips, hold for 1 second and return to the start. This is now to be performed on the opposite side. Ensure your body is not swinging while doing this. Do this for 2 sets of 5 reps each side. See Video: TRX Twisted Knee Tuck

RIP – What is it?
This is a ‘new’ piece of equipment that you do not see often in gyms, as you can see it is a solid pole with a elastic attachment ranged from easy to hard.
This is attached to a solid object and you hold the pole in different area’s depending on the intensity you require. This is then pulled, pushed or twisted with for you workout. Again just like the TRX your core in involved in every exercise.
As you will not often see this in a gym here are two video’s to show possible exercises it is made for:
I do strongly recommend trying this out, it is worth the time and requires the effort!
If interested in TRX or RIP training then I offer a 15min consultation followed by a 30min overall set-up and training exercise routine.
